1. “Chai” is the Indian word for tea
“Chai” means tea in Indian. But in the West, the word refers it spiced Indian-style-tea, tea with traditional Indian spices and milk. Because the popularity of Chai tea is spreading rapidly to the rest of the world, it has taken on some change. In America for example, Chai tea combined with creamer is known as Chai latte.

2. Caffeine contained in Chai tea
Forty milligrams of caffeine are contained in a cup of Chai tea. However, the amount is less than caffeine contained in a cup of coffee which reaches 120 milligrams. Because there is an interaction between caffeine and tannin contained in tea, tea has a calming effect on the nervous system. This causes the caffeine is absorbed more slowly and avoiding it shock and inducing calm. So, we can enjoy a few cups of tea.

3. Chai tea is better for environment
To produce a cup of coffee, it is estimated to require 1,100 cups of water. Compare the amount with amount of water to produce a cup of tea. To produce a cup of tea, we just need one-tenth of that amount.

4. Chai tea can be a coffee substitute
Unlike standard tea, Chai tea has substantially more body and flavor, so it is an ideal substitution for coffee. Chai tea tends to be stronger and bolder, enhanced by the spices.

5. Chai tea is typically made with black tea, but also available with green tea, Rooibos (or red tea) and yerba mate.
Green tea has less caffeine than black tea, and larger amounts of EGCg, a powerful anti-oxidant. It was first assumed that green tea had higher health benefits, but new research is finding that the theaflavins and thearubigens of black tea actually carry similar health benefits. Rooibos is a caffeine-free variety of tea sought for its additional health benefits. It is widely believed that it is the synergistic combination of tea and spices that make Chai tea such a beneficial and healthy drink. Yerba mate is another tea variation sought for its additional health benefits, but it also carries a stronger, slightly bitter taste.

6. Chai tea’s benefits
According to researches, Chai tea has numerous health benefits. Polyphenol contained in Chai tea can increase attention and focus. It also can keep cardiovascular health and as protection against Alzheimer’s and Parkison’s.
