Organic Tea

For your planet's health, for the health of the farmers who grew the tea, for a better tasting cup of tea, and most fundamentally, for your own health. Whatever your reason, it is it's time to make the switch from low quality conventional brands of tea, to superior, better-tasting, toxin-free products.

Conventional teas plants are sprayed with chemical pesticides at every stage of their growth. These harmful toxins undoubtedly end up in your freshly brewed cup of tea, and ultimately in your body. Unlike the veggies and fruits you buy at the grocery store, you can't wash your tea leaves before drinking them, and they certainly are not washed before processing and packaging. Even if you could wash the plant, it would not actually get rid of all the chemicals; the leaf of any plant is the thinnest and most permeable part of the plant, and readily soaks up the most chemicals that are sprayed on them, so it's not just about the chemical residues, it's what's actually in the plant. With conventional farming, tea plants are grown in massive mono-crops, where the quality of the soil is substantially lower, and the delicate balance of other life forms that normally help the plants, are wiped out, to create an unsustainable system that is dependent on the addition of more and more chemical fertilizers and pesticides for its survival. This type of farming fundamentally changes the quality and richness of the plant. For you, this means a low quality, less flavorful, chemical-laden cup of tea.

We've all heard of the many beneficial compounds in tea such as tannins and flavonoids, that act as anti-oxidants. Conventional teas still have these good compounds, but they've also been saturated with some of the most dangerous and carcinogenic chemicals known to man. So if you are drinking tea to promote good health, why would you drink tea that will add to ill-health?

Choosing tea that has been grown with care and the way nature intended, seems like the most logical choice when considering our own health. By choosing teas that are certified to be free of pesticides and chemicals, and are grown on tea estates that are sustainable and in harmony with nature, you are getting a superior tasting cup of tea, and good health, pure and simple.

Furthermore, by choosing organic tea, you are supporting the health and respect of the workers who farm the tea. Conventional farmers are directly and chronically exposed to dangerous and toxic chemicals everyday, and are plagued with a multitude of symptoms and illnesses related to their exposure. By supporting organically farmed tea you are not only supporting your own health, but the livelihood of thousands of people who bring you highest quality tea.

Even better than organic teas, are biodynamic teas, which are organically grown in a self-sustainable ecosystem, without the need for any additives from external sources.
